Jesus has sometimes been portrayed in art as a black man for a variety of reason. Sometimes it was to make a statement about racial equality, and sometimes it was to help the local people relate to jesus by showing him with similar physical features to the local population. According to the bible, Jesus was jewish and lived in the Middle East and he would have probably looked like a modern day Jewish or Middle Eastern person.
